The Sea Pro: A Fishing Vessel on the High Seas

The Crew’s Quest

The Sea Pro is a 22-foot vessel, crewed by two individuals, who embark on a perilous journey to catch blackfin tuna off the coast of California. The crew’s mission is to navigate the treacherous waters, avoid potential hazards, and reel in the prized catch.

Now, back to the fish tale. The morning of October 1, started as slow as the previous day but a move to the Ram Powell would prove fateful. “We had like a few hours left and we had nothing to show for it so when we sunk the bait for another big tuna, we sunk it down… small bait, small leader, small hook and we were just hoping to save the trip with a big yellowfin tuna and what hit next was a surprise,” Wier said. “Oh, my gosh. I think it’s a blue marlin. It’s a blue marlin,” Kenny could be heard screaming on the video recording of their trip.

The catch was released back into the deep blue sea.

The Thrilling Blue Marlin Catch

A Tale of Teamwork and Skill

The blue marlin is one of the most prized game fish in the world, known for its impressive size and strength. In this thrilling tale, a team of anglers demonstrated exceptional teamwork and skill, landing a massive blue marlin that weighed between 300 and 350 pounds.

The Catch of a Lifetime

The story begins with a small circle hook, a hardtail lure, and a drop to 400 feet. The bait was dropped to the seafloor, and the wait began. Kenny, one of the anglers, was the first to feel the bite. He expertly reeled in the fish, but it was clear that this was no ordinary catch. The fish put up an incredible fight, testing the limits of Kenny’s strength and endurance.

The Team Effort

As the battle raged on, Kenny’s teammate, Wier, was capturing the action on camera. The video footage showed the intensity of the fight, with the blue marlin leaping out of the water and thrashing its tail. The team’s communication and coordination were seamless, with each member working together to wear down the fish.

The Release

After a grueling fight, the team finally landed the blue marlin. However, they knew that releasing it back into the wild was the right decision.

“We were in this for the long haul, not just a quick fix.” Wier, who has been involved in the fishing industry for over 30 years, had been experimenting with new techniques and technology to improve his fishing methods. He spent countless hours researching, testing, and refining his strategies, and finally, after months of effort, he had developed a method that he believed would work. Wier’s goal was to catch the world’s largest fish using a baited hook and line, a feat that had never been achieved before. The challenge was to catch the largest fish possible in the most sustainable way possible.

They’re still out there, and they’re still putting up a fight.

The Thrill of the Catch

The thrill of catching a blue marlin is unmatched by any other fish species. The sheer size and strength of these fish make them a formidable opponent for even the most experienced anglers. The fight can last for hours, with the marlin putting up a fierce resistance to the hook and line.

Wier and Kenny’s fish tales will keep coming and can be viewed on the Coastal Worldwide channel on YouTube.
